The Great North Epping Art Trail
Thank you to everyone who was involved in this wonderful community event. The day was fabulous with lots of people collecting the map for the walk and everyone going above and beyond with their displays of their work outside their home on in their windows.
There was a young, aspiring artist called Jesse, 14 years old, who did a live demonstration of his work. It was amazing, he used spray paint and fire to create amazing atmospheric space like images. It was amazing to watch and he was so gracious and kind to all those who came to watch. well done Jessie!!
I also had some amazing parent volunteers who not only helped with signs for the advertising and letter box dropping but also helped with the organisation of the event. I’d particularly like to mention Taryn Bloom and Alison Lloyd.
Alison and her family not only entered the competition but also created ‘Calvin the colourist’ - an amazing sculpture of an animal made out of found objects that was left outside Roma Vino and Ill Posto for the days leading up to the hunt for children to add too. It became the centre piece on the day!
I awarded the Lloyd family a $50 Voucher for Kate’s Art Corner online for their beautiful work and amazing contributions.

About Kate's Art Corner
.....and a little bit about Kate
Kate's Art Corner was founded in 2009 by Kate Nielsen, and has been successfully bringing children of all ages together to make art ever since. Kate now also offers Adult classes for all skill levels. Located in North Epping, Mosman, and other suburbs of Sydney, she designs her classes around the local environment and all the inspirational ideas and concepts that it has to offer. Kate has a Diploma and Bachelor of Fine Arts, over ten years experience in Early childhood education and is a current practicing artist. Kate has twice been a finalist in the Mosman art prize, has been a finalist in the Hawkesbury prize and Hornsby Prize and is currently Workington private commissions as well as towards a solo exhibition. Recently, Kate has been awarded the Emerging Artist in the Hornsby art prize. She believes that creativity, in all its forms is fundamental to childrens education and it is important to support and nurture this as a basis for all learning. Thinking creatively is important in young children, not just for art making but for the ability to make important connections and understandings. Kate is supportive of all children who come to her classes and has a 'process, not product' policy, focusing on the process, not the end result. She offers stand alone workshops, term classes and private tuition. DYI art packs for an experience at home or a gift are also available in a variety of themes.
Kate's Art Corner aims to inspire and ignite a creative spark within all children and adults, in an enjoyable and relaxed environment. Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun by joining us today!

Bringing children Together through art
Kate's Art Corner understands the importance of supporting all children in learning and understanding different aspects of art making. The classes allow children space to think, explore, experiment and understand the art world. This is done in a group learning environment so children have the opportunity to collaborate and share ideas and theories with like-minded friends of all ages. Each class is unique in its ideas and concepts. Under careful guidance and direction, different subjects are explored and a variety of media are used. Kate is dedicated to ensuring the children that come to her classes have the opportunity to experiment and play with as much art making material as possible as well as having a creative and positive experience. It’s her mission to ensure that the children remain engaged, and to realise their full potential. The classes are designed for children aged between 4 - 12 years old.
